Robert Scott - A Brief history

Founded in 2000 and began trading in Capel Street, Dublin. Capel Street had a fine tradition for furniture for many decades in the capital and Robert Scott Furniture quickly became part of that tradition. Our relatively confined space was a hugely popular and a much sought after ‘treasure trove’ for furniture and interior products. Many customers commented on the wonderful atmosphere coupled with helpful and friendly service. Our product range included Dining Room, Sitting Room, Kitchen, Bedroom and Hall Furniture. The ‘finishing touches’ of Pictures, Mirrors, Rugs, Giftware and Lighting were ranges our customers really loved to browse around. These were particularly quick moving items which meant there was always something new on a weekly basis.

With a variety of products on show and decent lead-times available, we began to supply many customers with goods for the rental house & apartment (fit-out market). This market grew significantly over the years and Robert Scott Furniture found it lucrative because of design, taste and attention to detail.

In 2007 the company moved premises to a new location in Glasnevin. The move gave the opportunity to bring in a wider range of products. The showroom gave us over 10,000 sq. ft. of retail selling space. Free parking was a key factor to the move as Capel Street wasn’t as accessible for customers who wanted to pull up to the front door. We were also in a position to offer more branded products like Fama, Italsofa, Effezeta, Silentnight, Sealy, Gallery and Searchlight. The fit-out business continued to grow and the company was awarded many contracts in subsequent years.

In 2012 we decided to focus more effort on fit-out and contract business thereby trading from our company office as opposed to the retail showroom. We continued to supply regular customers with furniture for fit-outs, apartment furniture renewals etc. In 2014 Robert Scott Furniture was awarded a contract to fit-out the new Fr. Scully House complex on Gardiner Street in Dublin 1. In total there are 99 one or two bedroom units. We installed furniture, lights, pictures & mirrors, curtains, appliances and kitchen utensils, conference room and meeting room furniture.
